CBAE Funding Update
Saturday evening, the Senate passed the “Consolidated Security, Disaster Assistance, and Continuing Appropriations Act, 2009” [PDF, ~10MB] by a vote of 78 to 12 thereby sending the bill to the President for his signature. Last week, the House passed the continuing resolution by a vote of 370-58.
What does this mean for CBAE grantees?
All of CBAE grants being awarded, whether continuation grants or new awards, are being funded with FY2008 dollars beginning October 1. Funding for FY2008 is not affected by this congressional action which means that CBAE grantees will receive full FY2008 funding that will extend through September 2009.
The funding extension voted on this past week is for FY2009 funds, which means that CBAE funding is not yet extended through the full FY2009 year. This, however, is true of all FY2009 funding. Congress will most assuredly pick this up when they return in early 2009.
